Javier Quinteros

Dr. Javier Quinteros pursued a degree in Computer Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina). His PhD thesis was made in collaboration between the Departments of Computer Science and Geology at the same university. During the first years of his career he worked many years as a leader of IT projects related to academic institutions. He worked as a scientist at the University of Buenos Aires (1 year) and at the Geodynamical Modelling Section of GFZ (5 years). His main research topic is the development and application of numerical models to the simulation of geodynamic processes. He was the head of a Helmholtz International Research Group (2013-2016) with partners in Argentina. Since 2013 he has been working as Datacenter Manager of GEOFON.

He is the chair (2019-2023) of the Data Exchange Working Group of the International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks (FDSN), a global organisation involving seismological data centres and PIs of seismic networks, as well as chair of the EIDA Technical Committee (2017-2019), a group dedicated to the design and development of new federated services for the seismological community. He is involved as GEOFON representative in various international initiatives (e.g. EPOS, FDSN). He is a usual collaborator of different RDA working groups. During recent years he has also been a member of the EPOS-IP, EUDAT2020, EOSC-hub, and EOSC-Pillar projects as well as some national initiatives related to best practices on data management and FAIR principles.
